Some Windows Defender woes......HELP!!!

S

Sean

For some reason, all of the sudden I'm having some trouble with Windows
Defender on my laptop, which has Vista Home Premium. Earlier today when I
started up my computer, the little Defender icon with a warning sign showed
up in my taskbar, and when I tried to open it, I got the error message saying
that I should check for updates....I did that several times and kept getting
the message that there aren't any new definitions or updates available at
this time. And since then, I've restarted my PC, tried talking to a
Microsoft technician online for 3 hours straight, AND even tried a system
restore -- all to no avail.

Along with Defender, I also have Webroot Spy Sweeper And Anti-Virus, which
effortlessly handles all my spyware and anti-viral needs.

But what I want to know is, what's causing this sudden glitch with Defender
and what can be done to remedy it? Any and all help will be greatly
appreciated.
