"Some Start menu items can't be displayed"

I get the subject message occasionally, usually the first time I open the
start menu after logging in. (See full text of msg below.) However, I can't
figure out the solution. I don't really want to change the resolution, nor do
I see how that could be the problem since there's oodles of white space in
the Start menu now. Any idea what it could be referring to?

Full msg:
"Some Start menu items can't be displayed
There is not enough room to show all of the items that you have added to the
Start menu. To display all items, try a higher screen resolution."

Right click on the Start Orb, select Properties, Start Menu tab, Customize
button, adjust the value down in the Start menu size, Number of recent programs
to display: box

Thank you (and brink) for the replies. Well, I tried going to the Customize
dialog, but the "Start menu size" selection was greyed out. (???) However, I
clicked a few other customizations (like removing the "Default programs"
item) and lo & behold, the big white space on the Start menu was collapsed
and I don't seem to be getting the error message anymore. I guess customizing
the menu somehow fixed the problem. Thanks guys for the quick responses. --B.
