Some shortcuts right click run: minimize/maximize does nothing.

Some shortcuts that I use to right click properties run: minimized/maximize
no longer change their behavior. They use to allow me to do it, but lately I
noticed they just ignore the input. I am able to click maximized and it
stays click, it just does nothing. What is strange is that some shortcuts
work properly and I can freely change between run: minimized/maximized. It
is roughly have my shortcuts that cause this problem. I have tried
recreating a shortcut to the same .exe file, but it does the same thing.
Folders and documents all seem to be working correctly.

Thanks for the help... This may be a repost so I am sorry, not sure if the
first one made it to the board!

Have you recently made any changes to the privileges or ACL of
any folders ? ( Including Ownership mods ). In XP Pro you can
Right Click a shortcut and take Properties, then Security to see the
Rights Table. XP Home only provides that capability in Safe Mode.

It would help in analyzing if you actually posted a problem shortcut's
complete Path ( \Program Files\Adobe\Reader....)

If this problem only began recently ( last week or so ), a System
Restore may be a way to resolve it.

I have done none of what you mentioned. I have tried system restore, but the problem goes back a good while. I have a restore point for May 2008 and may restore all the way back to there (after ghosting drive).

Here is one shortcut that gives me trouble "C:\Program Files\Mozilla
Firefox\firefox.exe"

Your normal day-to-day profile is it an Administrator or Limited account ?
If limited you can modify the shortcut to run with alternate credentials.

I wouldn't recommend a System Restore to a date that far back in time.
System Restore is fine for short term restorations, but trying one that far
in time is likely to fail.

I only use admin account. Nothing else. Wierd how some work fine and other
give me a problem.

Maybe the simplest thing to try is to create a new one for any of
the problem shortcuts. See if it's properties are persistent - if so
then just recreate them one at a time.

already tried that and it does not help. still get the same thing. must be
some sort of registry problem??
