some searches crashing explorer

ok, this is really strange but... when I click the windows logo, and then
type any search starting with the letter 'c', the computer freezes, and i
get the message that 'windows explorer has stopped working'. I know, it
makes no sense to me either... but I swear it is true. I have tried several
times over several days, rebooted, etc... no change. I can search for
anything else, but if it starts with 'c', i only get the first letter and
then ... crash!

any ideas what the heck is actually going on here?

You must have either a extremely large file, or a corrupted file that is
being read when you search beginning with C.

Rare - but I saw this in Windows XP a few years ago. I deleted the music
involved from the computer and everything was back to normal.

Also, make sure you don't have a CD or DVD in the tray when you start the
search.

Thanks Richard - I suspected the same, but how can I find the 'c' problem
file?
Bummed about having a problem so quickly on the brand new machine.
