Solving a Net Framework Problem

I recently reloaded my Windows xp and when starting xp it tells me that
'ReminderApp.exe -.Net Framework Initialization error. Application failed to
initiate properly. Then is says Install one of the following versions of the
..net framework.' Nothing is listed.
Then when I click OK, it says that the Application failed to initate
properly (oxc0000142).
Is it talking about windows or one of the programs I installed? Do I delete
programs one by one, reload Windows or or is there another solution. I have
had problems reinstalling many of my other programs also.

..NET stuff always comes with 'redistributables' some one of which your app
is looking for. Some dll or other it thinks it needs to run. ReminderApp
sounds like office and it's calendar to me, but that's a guess. You can look
in Add/Remove to see what you have going for you now. The update site will
offer more.

I removed my Office files with no change. I missed it earlier, but the error
message said to install .net Framework: v2.0.50727. It believe I found the
right file but it ran into a problem unzipping.
Since I'm having one problem after another, I plan to uninstall one program
at a time to see which program may have caused the error and then reinstall
windows to include a disk reformating. Hopefully starting over. Thanks for
the assistance.
