.net framework V1.1

I am having a problem with a something called Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1
When I try to pull up some installed programs and some files in windows
itself,( Help and Support etc. ) i get the following message:

.NET Framework Initiation Error
To run this application, you first must install one of the following
versions of the .Net Framework: v1.1.1.4322
Contact your application publisher for instructions about obtaining the
appropriate version of the .Net Framwork.

I went to Windows update and it was listed as something I need to
download. so I downloaded it but it failed to install. I tried 3 times
getting the same results. I could not get any help from the update site. Then
I looked for and found a file pertaining to .net Framework but it did not
have any help for me. I then went to the ADD & Remove program in my Control
pannel and Microsoft .NET Framework was listed. When I pulled it up there was
a support section which I clicked on and it gave another support address tio
go to. I clicked on that site and it pulled up: Microsoft .NET
Framework-- Instalation Repair with the following instructions:

Obtain the original installation source. For example, if you installed the
..NET Framework from CD or DVD, insert the disk. Or, if you downloaded the
..NET Framework, download again and choose to save to disk. If you installed
from a network share, reconnect. Other instructions for using the Command
Window and what to type in were given, which I followed to the letter. I used
everything I had: IE6/SP1 and SP2 update CDs.I cant download it again because
it will not install and the WIN.-update site says I have allready downloaded
it. I am at a complete loss as to what to do.
When I bought this COMP. it was preloader with WXP-Home Ed & IE5. So I do
not have any WXP Disks. I am afraid the original sourse might be in the
preload that came with the Comp.
I will GREATLY appreciate any help I can get to resolve this problem.

I have been trying to read you answer to my question but so far I have not
been able to find it.I received a email (I guess from you) but when I click
on Read and rate to response it just brings me back to Win. News Group an
wade through the pages until i fine the original short message from you. I
checked the Notify me button and I guess that sent the email to me?
Somehow I did pul up an email address ( I don't know how) but when I tried
to send my letter it said there was no such of an email address????
Don't know what to do

I tried that and tried to send a letter to the email address listed but it
came back as a mailer demon saying : their is no such email address

To day I received two responses to my post. When I click on: read and rate
the response, it just takes me back to this page and iI have to hunt for the
andwers. When I find them they were both by Goldwing2. when i followed his
instructions to get his email address, i tried to send an email but they all
come back as mailor demons stateing that there is no such email
address.????????
I am about to give up because it is very hard for me to figure out this Help
site.
The email address does not exist according to the mailor demon.

Ive been trying to download net framework 1.1....tried a heap of times just
keep getting a message saying unable to download.........because of this have
the icon continuosly in the tray wont go away.anyone know how to fix this
problem??
