Solver Run-time error 9

Excel 2002 SP3. Recently, I'm getting a new and persistent error message when
I attempt to run Solver: "Microsoft Visual Basic - Run-time error '9':
Subscript out of range". If I uncheck the Solver from the Add-Ins list, then
add it back to the list later, I can run Solver normally and it fully
recovers the last scenario from the sheet. All is well for that editing
session, but if I close the file and re-open, the error returns. Same pattern
occurs when I first open Excel and start Solver on a fresh new workbook: I
must remove then add back the Solver to run it the first time. If, when I
first open Excel, I start off by removing the Solver Add-in and adding it
back, THEN open a saved workbook containing an existing Solver scenario, I
get no error the first time I try it. Go figure.

Problem solved. It seems the menu configuration file was corrupted. I
searched for a *.XLB file and found an Excel10.XLB which I deleted, then
started Excel. Solver now starts normally with no extra steps. It had the
consequence of resetting my Toolbars, but I can deal with that OK. I
understand that some Adobe and Palm installations can cause this trouble.
