SOLUTION: IE6 not being able to connect to secure web pages

First, thanks everyone on here for the tips and leads to possible solutions
to correct the problem where IE6 won't load any secure web pages. Although I
understand that these tips lead some people in the right direction, none of
them solved the issue for me. So let me share my scenario, and if you fall in
the same category, it may help. If you want some background read on, other
wise scroll to the bottom and read the solution cause' I know a lot of
people, like me, just want to cut to the chase.

I work for a customer of mine who has DirecWay satellite service running on
the DW6000 system. Just yesterday he began to complain that he could not
access My eBay, his mail, or his bank account information. However, all other
internet tasks where working fine. His wife, using a Mac and Safari, was
unable to access her Yahoo Mail, and unable to connect to her buddy list with
iChat.

Myself being the one who maintains their vast wireless network which spans
their farm and all the buildings, and the DW6000 box, I felt that we were not
looking at an equipment problem or failure, but I checked anyway. Anyone who
has a DW6000 box knows that you can log into it and see the System Status,
which was showing GREEN and OK in my case here. So.... I started going
through all you're posts and possible solutions. I got no where.

Heres the solutuion: After working for 1.5 hours on possible SOFTWARE
RELATED solutions, I picked up the DW6000 box, pulled the power, waited a few
minutes, and plugged it back in. All problems, on both the husbands and wifes
end, CORRECTED! Simple as that.

Now, heres my question to anyone savvy enough with an answer: Why would the
DirecWay DW6000 box cause this problem? I'm curious because I'd like to give
a better answer to my customer, AND, I personally want an answer for my
notebook.

I don't know why disconnecting the box works, but it does. I had a similar
problem, and after over a month of troubleshooting software, in desperation I
unplugged the box and plugged it back in and - VOILA - problem gone.
Interestingly, my problem started at about the same time that you posted.
Wish I had read your post then....

At work, when we have a problem with our computers, IT asks that we shutdown
and re-boot before calling them. Maybe this is the same sort of thing.
