Hi,

Recently I'm facing alot of problem with my winxp on a new PC. According to
the technician, he claims that my winxp software could be an old cd thus not
supporting the new high-end PC.

I would like to know if this is true?

From my understanding, once i've updated using windows update, it'll be
alright?

Please help! Thanks!

Change your "technician" immediately. That's a load of codswallop.

What "problems" are you having?

Problems I'm facing now:
- application auto quit
- application errors
- cpu auto reboots

Previously, same as above, also:
- getting blue screen of death
- after windows update, cpu *beep* thrice and not loading

Suspected to be ram fault though, technician claims nothing is wrong.
Advised me to set my virtual memory to system managed size instead of letting
the system choose the best so it'll not auto reboot. However, it still auto
reboots. Insisted that my cd is old thus causing these problems.

I'm using this very CD on my other PC but I've never experienced such case
before. Please advise. THANKS!

Do you get any error messages when these things happen? if so can you post
them?

could be - you need to look at the manual for your motherboard to find out
what the three beeps mean....

Umm those are exactly the same!

Tosh. As I said - change your technician. he dosn't know what he's talking
about.....

i'm afraid i don't have the errors.

eg :
- when i open my internet explorer, it'll hang and have an error popup,
asking me to "SEND" or "DON'T SEND".
- when i was playing counterstrike, it just force quit the application.
- also when requesting for video conferencing via msn, it reboot my comp
thrice.

I suspect it could well be a hardware problem of some kind - either RAM
or Video card would be my guess. Have you looked at the Event Viewer to
see if there's anything there?

I'm sorry but how do I go about getting to the Event Viewer?
Oh yah, this PC came with an integrated VGA however I bought a better one
and input. I thought it could be due to my new VGA, so I decided to remove
the VGA and drivers however the errors still come.

It's utter nonsense, unless you've badly "translated" or misunderstood
what he actually sad.

From my understanding, once i've updated using windows update, it'll be
alright?

That would depend entirely upon the actual nature of the problem(s)
you're experiencing.

I'm late coming to this thread, so I'll just reaffirm what Gordon has
already told you. It's completely false, and this "technician" is not
someone you should rely on.

Your understanding is correct.

Alright. I've had enough with that company already. And what the technician
said, I doubt it's true as well.

Thanks for replying. Taken note on this issue. Ever since I bought this PC,
i've never been able to use it since 02/12/06. There's endless problems.
Should have just fired this technician.
