Software synchronization for Outlook

E

Eric

Hello,

Anyone using a good synchronization software to sync 2 pst files. I tried
PSTSync from www.pstsync.com but it does not do such a good job. It is doing
more of a merging that a synchronization. I end up with duplicated items in
my journal or my calendar... Well it is far from being consistent.
PocketMirror from Chapura does a great job between Outlook and a PDA, I wish
I could find the same strength in a software that syncs 2 pst files.

Thank you.

Hi Eric,

have a look on this sites:

Outlook synchronisation solutions:
http://www.publicshareware.com/outlook-synchronisation-description.php
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync.htm

Office Marketplace Outlook messaging tools:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/CE010719621033.aspx
I end up with duplicated items....

Important for all synchronizations:

BEFORE you try the first synchronization between 2 folders (PC1 Calendar and
PC2 Calendar) one of the calendars must be empty.

If you purchased your PDA, the PDA was empty. The did not know your dates or
your contacts, so the pDA was empty.

You must have the same situation if you try the first synchronization bith a
sync software.

One folder must be empty before you try a synchronization software.

Maybe it helps.

Oliver,

Thank you for the links. When I bought my PDA, I started using it right away
but only did the first synchronization with Outlook 6 months later. My PDA
was not empty at the time neither was Outlook and it did not create any
problem. 95% of the time I will need to sync the whole outlook.pst file not
just some folders.

Thank you again.

Hi Eric,
My PDA was not empty at the time neither was Outlook and it did not create any
problem.

This is interesting, because software developere make a lot of money with
Add-Ins that deletes dupes, which were created by synchronization programs
like "ActiveSync" or Hotsync. User create a new "partnership" between
Outlook and the PDA and then the sync toll create the dupes, because they
forget to delete the items in the PDA or in Outlook before the create the
"partnership".

Anyhow, we prefer not to have all items in the same both folder (PST files)
which you like to synchronize.
