Software installation problems

Guest

I have recently installed XP over Me. Cannot load software such as Palm and Quicken. When I restart error msg reads 'The request to end the selected 16 bit task has timed out. The WIN 16 subsystem may be unstable'. I also receive 'End program - WOWEXEC'

In addition, the PC will not recognise USB attachments

Grateful for your assistance.
