I bought an acer laptop with vista pre installed, this was to run diagnostics
equipment for our garage business, (Hanetech cmt pro diagnostic equipment)
unfortunately this will not run on vista, we asked in store before purchase
if vista had compatibility problems and was told no so we purchased it, i
would like to know if anyone else have had similar problems with software or
is there any fix out there to make vista compatable with our software, i did
system restore back to earliest point of purchase to remove the software but
now the laptop will not load up, freezes half way through installation
process only had laptop 2 week shop will not refund unless laptop is faulty,
they are checking it tomorrow, problem we have is they dont supply a laptop
with xp on and are being reluctant to refund, any help appreciated

I suspect you asked the wrong question. Did the sales clerk at the
store specifically tell you that the software for Hanetech cmt pro
diagnostic equipment would run on Vista? How could he possibly have
known? If so, have a word with his manager; you've been mislead.

Yes, unfortunately a lot of people have purchased new operating systems
(not just Vista) without first determining if the applications they
already owned would work on the newer OS. It's an all-too-common occurance.

I'm afraid you've got it backwards; it's up to each individual software
manufacturer to make his product compatible with the operating systems
on which he wishes his product to run. You'll need to contact the maker
of Hanetech cmt pro diagnostic equipment to determine if they've
produced a Vista-compatible version yet.

That's often the case. If there's nothing wrong with the laptop, and
you simply purchased the wrong OS without first determining its
suitablity for your use, you've just learned an expensive lesson.

If that vendor won't sell you a laptop with WinXP installed, simply
take you business elsewhere.
