The main volume slider won't stay raised in sndvol32. I open sound controls
when I have no volume coming thru speakers. All volume controls are raised
except the main volume slider. I raise it up and sometimes sound works for a
few minutes and stops. When I reopen sndvol32 the volume is reset all the
way down again. At other times the slider just slides right back down as
soon as I release mouse button. I have tried to update sound card driver but
it is up to date. This is sooo strange!! Can anyone help?

You probably have several volume controls on your computer (e.g.,
Windows, sound driver, media players, keyboard driver, etc.) Any one of
them can change the sound volume.

Is this annoying? As Sarah Palin would say: "You betcha."

After making sure you have the sound card drivers, try uninstalling your
sound card drivers and reboot and point Windows to the place where you have
the sound card drivrs installed.
Pretty quick to do and may even solve the problem.
