Smoother (or Faster) Transitions between Slides Containing wma Audio (ppt 2002)?

Bob Schroeder

I have a ppt 2002 slide show containing 5 slides. Each slide has a
..wma file that it will play for the length of the slide. The way it
stands now the transition between slides is Choppy (the slide ends and
the audio stops and the presentation pauses for 5-10 secs before it
moves to the next slide). Is there anyway to speed up that pause?
WOuld convertinng the wma's to mp3's help? Any settings I should
check?

Thanks...

What slide transition is being used? Some transitions require more system
resources and after playing a multimedia file (which uses lots of system
resources) you want to minimize the processing needs for the slide
transition.

I personally do not use WMA's because they tend to give me more problems
than I care to deal with. If file size is not an issue, for the fastest
transitions here is my recommendation. Convert audio files to .wav format.
Adjust PPT's settings to allow files up to 50megs to be embedded (TOOLS >>
OPTIONS >> GENERAL tab = 50,0000k). Reinsert audio files and adjust
animation/play settings as needed.

Your transitions should be almost instantaneous. The downside will be the
file size. A 50k WMA will equal a 4-6meg .wav....

Bob,

The less you give powerpoint to do the better.

(Point A) One trick is to make a dummy slide inbetween slides....set the dummy slide to look like your next slide...but
set it to auto advance after 0 seconds.

Because while powerpoint is playing slide 1....it's also getting the next event ready (in your case slide 2)...so make
slide 2 something really simple (see point A.)
