small window before login

Hi
When I start win 2000 pro I get a small window with no writing except a "|". I have to click on the button at the bottom of the window for the boot sequence to continue. The next thing that happens is the login window. I also get this when I logout, but not when I shutdown. It's only irritating not destructive, but I don't like this kind of stuff to happen.
Any ideas would be appreciated

Have you been messing around in the registry lately? Used
any "Tweaking" programs for windows? I know there is
something in there that makes a message pop up before
logon. Go here to see what I mean....

If this is the case follow the directions on the site I
gacve you except where it says "Enter your message" just
delete everything in that box.
