Computer restarts before login

When i try to login to Win 2000 pro it goes through the
normal boot process and the the black loading windows
press f8 screen then goes to the blue screen that normally
states starting windows.....then the login box pops up.
But my computer just instantly restarts prior to the
starting box appearing. There are no BSOD's and no error
messages. Tried starting in safe mode same thing. Tried
using last good configuration nothing help!!!!

You may want to try a repair install of Windows 2000 from the setup CD. You
might also want to try booting into the recovery console and running chkdsk.

I have tried the repair option off the startup disk and it
completes the three tasks but it doesn't change anything.
I was able to do a reinstall of win 2k to C:\winnt1 folder
(original was in \winnt but i had to reinstall all the
drivers) and most of the extentions aren't registering how
they are supposed to. Ie., pdf files seem blank and it's
asks what to open them with even though adobe acrobat is
installed (on the original win 2k anyway)

any other options to save
