Slow typing and keystroke problems

I've just gotten a new comp with Windows Vista installed in it. Everything is
working fine except for this very annoying problem, and I wonder if Vista's
to do with it since I never had such issues with Windows XP. Thing is, as I
type, letters appear slower on the screen than the speed at which I am
typing, and some letters fail to appear. I checked the drivers and they're
all working fine, its just that I can't seem to type quickly and I've to
backtrack and re-edit my sentences over and over due to the skipped letters.

It's a 2 gig RAM the computer is running on, so I don't think its lack of
memory. And sadly, there's no function to 'increase keyboard sensitivity' or
anything like that... Is anyone out there having the same problem, and can
someone suggest the root problem and a solution to this please? It's driving
me nuts!

Thanks...

Just out of curiosity, click to see if your system is idling properly:

1.) Close all programs.
2.) Press Ctrl+Alt+Del.
3.) Click "Start Task Manager."
4.) Click the Performance tab.

The CPU usage (in the upper left corner) shouldn't be over about 10%, if
everything is closed. The memory bars probably shouldn't be over 600 MB,
either.

Practically every program... hotmail, MS Word etc etc... :(

Typing in HTML or plain text? Does typing in plain text remove the problem?

If your cpu usage is normal, (Vista does a lot of indexing when it is new),
you can go into control panel/hardware/keyboard and see if changing the
settings helps. What is your computer setup.

Wow thanks!

Okay CPU usage jumps and ranges from bet 6% to 2%... and memory usage is 730
MB! Does this confirm that Vista is the culprit for the high memory usage?

Does that mean the problem might be resolved over time?

What setups specifically do you require?

The drivers are all updated and in working condition, since I guess this is a
brand-new computer.

Turning Aero off? Sorry what's Aero and how do I go about doing that?

BTW I have seen updated Video Drivers solve this issue IF the computer has
enough
Video Power to start with. Video needs are notorious for slow downs and
freezes.

Thank you, Spirit! I am going to try this right now, and hope that this
solves the problem. :)

I've just changed the priority of the microsoft application called
trustedinstall.exe to low using task manager and this appears to reduce the
issue (But not fix it completely).

Changn the process priority back to noml reintroducs the issue as you can
tell bythis sentance.

Go get updated drivers.... especially Video and Hard Disk!
You probably have one problem, drivers, and are trying to
fix it by playing around with other methods. Get the latest
drivers and then work on conflicts and so on.
