Have 2 pcs and a laptop, router is connected to one pc (buffalo WG54mb) and
the pc downstairs has a 54mb wireless connection and a laptop with 11mb
connection
transferring the files between the pcs is fine, but when transffering with
the laptop i am only gettin 200kbs which is far slower (the signal is fine)
is there any setting i can change? to improve speed? thanks

Hi

If you get 200KB/sec. (B=Byte) that means about 2Mb/sec. wireless which
might be what an old 802.11b would provide in noisy envioroment.

You can try to optimize the TCP/IP Stack, may be it would help.

Instructions here: http://www.ezlan.net/Internet_Speed.html

The following might not pertain directly to the problem now.

802.11g "Speed" is usually reduced in presence of 802.11b. So I think you
should consider upgrading the Laptop to 802.11g. Buffalo is having rebates
on its 802.11g line so it might be a good time to upgrade.

You probably will get better performance across the board.
