Slow startup on win.XP

each time i try to get on my pc (Dell Dimension 4600)with windows xp -sp2 it
takes a long time.I turn it on & it goes to user, i click on my name & it
takes about 1 minute to get to wall paper, then 2 minutes to load the icons.
This just happend today. I have run defrag,deleted temp files,cookies,& ran
check disk. I have also run Ad-Aware SE & Spybot & Antivirus. I installed a
firewall yesterday (COMODO) & I had no trouble with it.
I appreciate any help i can get.
 
Thanks Neil,it.s not in the firewall.it was fine yesterday. I have run the
problem down. it is in services. I unchecked all of them & it will come on,
so now i am rechecking one at a time. I only have my outlook express to get
on. is there a way to find out what services you have to have checked on?

A quick search in google gives a link
http://www.ss64.com/ntsyntax/services.html this may help you. Just as a
matter of interest how have you disabled the services, is it in msconfig. If
so do you have the "hide microsoft services" selected it may be a services
other than microsoft that is causing the problem.

I went through administrative tools to services & worked on it there. I have
it working now.
