Hi,

I have quite fast computer which started up Windows XP home with all
available service packs very quickly.

I installed IE v7 and found that I could not get access to my Office mail
server, so uninstalled the IE7.

Now the computer boots up to the stage where it displays the background
image and sits there for several minutes before displaying the Icons,
toolbars etc and becoming accessible to the keyboard.

Once working it seems to work normally.

I'm sure there is a setting somewhere which will enable me to fix this, but
I need some guidelines as to where to look, or better yet specific
instructions on how to fix it.

Now that IE7 is uninstalled did you try a system restore to a point before
IE7 was added?
