I have a problem with my windows starting it seems to take a few minutes for everything to load in and than the start up tune plays and nothing will run until than. This has never been the case until a few weeks ago when it loaded everything as soon as the desktop screen came up. I have not changed anything to cause this as far as I know

I have a p2.66 512mb and everything eles if fine on it

Having read some of the other post on here a tryed a few things like system restore, adware, sysbot and msconfig suggestions but nothing seems to make a difference. Have virus detection up to date and have run scan and it is clear

Anybody eles with simlar problems would like to hear from you or any help in this matter, I would be very thankful

when you went into did you select selective startup and the go to the selective startup tab and turn every thing off exept for systray and explore.exe? This should fix your problem since you have no adware detected.

Download "hijack this" to remove whatever spyware found,
it could be some spyware in your system which causes your
pc to slow down. Here's the link to the utility
http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10227352.html Sometimes
ad-adware and spybot couldn't detect but this utility
can. If the above doesn't help, try doing a scan disk and
defrag your drive..........

none of these seem to have worked, does the norton update of about the 7th jan 04 cause this a i have just read a post on here (NAV 2003 and Windows XP slow startup) and this seems to be the same as my problem ?

any clues anyone

The Norton Anti-Virus problem was due to an expired
certificate. Internet Explorer has an option to check a site's
certificate for revocation. Verisign operates the servers that
validate certificates. Because the certificate had expired it
caused excessive traffic (like a Denial of Service Attack).
This was what caused the slowdown, but it has been fixed.

bootvis.msi fixed it for me, but I read it borks systems once in a while so
you never know what will happen if you run it. It use to be on Window's web
site but they took it down. You can find it with a google search. It's a
"developers tool" so it isn't designed to be used by the end user. It
knocked my boot time down from about 3 minutes to 25 seconds.
