Slow Start-up (I know this question has been asked before)

Hi Gerry,

I'll have to get back with you on the remaining items. I'm off to my
sisters for Christmas. I can tell you I spoke to Norton & they said 1-2
minutes for start-up for the Norton application is normal, so that would
account for a big part of the slowness. Also, he suggested I add more
memory. I only have 768 RAM. He suggested 1- 2 GIGs.

Norton is not necessarily the right choice for you. RAM is not the only
factor you need to consider when seeking to improve performance.

Hello,

I did a dumb thing this New Year's Day. I called Dell Tech Support & a
hardware guy ascessed my computer, deleted some symantec services under
system config & deleted some temp files. I tried ascessing Norton but
couldn't open it. So, the tech advised me to reinstall Norton. After
hanging up, I did a system restore & Norton is running fine. However, my
icons on my wallpaper seem to take longer than normal to load. It could be
my imagination, but they take about 40 seconds to load once the wallpaper
comes up & then my taskbar items will then come up.

The moral, don't fix what's not broken & I should have listened to all of
you guys.

Any advice on the wallpaper icons would be appreciated.

I sincerely believe Norton is causing the issue.

Thanks, Kindly,

John

Gerry:

Happy New Year! I think it would be easier for me to copy & paste the
answers to your questions if I had your e-mail address. Would you mind
sharing that with me? My e-mail is (e-mail address removed).

Thanks & I promise not to give your address out.

John
