Slow response

There are quite a few programs in my win2k which are very slow to start when
I click the icon. I don't mean the starting up process are slow but they are
slow to start to start up. This include hibernation button. For example, if
I click hibernation button(or some other programs, not all), it's going to
wait 5 seconds doing nothing before it starts to react. What could cause
this problem?

Could be a lot of things. What does the performance tab in your task
manager look like? I'd suspect that there is either a lack of hard drive
space, bad fragmentation, or a lack of allocated swap file space.
