hibernation got slow

Hi people,
I always hibernate my computer instead of shutting it down.
When the xp is frehly intsalled, hibernation works fast.
However, now, hibernation works very slow.
It has been quite long that I did not reinstall xp so this
gives an indciatin that somethings installed up to now
is slowing the hibernation down.
But what exactly may be responsible for this?
How can I improve things without reinstalling xp?
Thanx in advance

Hibernation keeps the memory on the hard disk. Have you tried a plain
old-fashioned restart? This will clear the memory and .. yeah you know...

You could do some cold boot troubleshooting to see what might be slowing
down hibernation.

Additionally the first thing to try is turn off hibernation. This should
delete the hiberfil.sys file. Defrag the drive, then reenable hibernation.
See if that helps.

It may be your HD has switched to PIO mode due to errors? Look in Device
manager, Primary IDE Channel properties and Advanced and see that DMA is
still being used.
