Slow publishing - FP2003

What would slow down the data transfer during a publish session? I
initially had a conflict in sync between my host and local. I tried to
re-sync but kept getting server shut down errors. If I try to publish using
my laptop (FP2002) I can move files without problem.

I created a new site on my local drive. Tonight I'm publishing all my filed
from my host to the local. It's taken 4 hours so far and not nearly done
(<5 megs). My progress shows 0 kbs but data is moving.

Problem on my local? Setting issue? cache issue? or a host problem with
FP2003?

This one has me puzzled.

- any firewalls or AV software on your PC can be in the loop
