Slow Printing on home XP network

I have 2 XP machines networked with a Linksys router.
When I copy files between machines it is over 10MB, but
within the last three weeks printing across the network
travels at about 4 packets per second - a scanned
document may take an hour to print through the network
(fast locally). The only changes have been Microsoft
updates and I loaded Digital Image Suite on one of the
machines...can anyone help? Is there something specific
to spooled data transport that is differn't than other
traffic?

I'm having similar problems printing on my D-Link
network. My wife's Dell laptop printed 5-10 times faster
with Windows 98 than it does now on XP. My new Dell
laptop prints incredibly slow to our HP G85. (Both
laptops are using a wireless network card.) A Dell
desktop PC we have in the house running W2k prints faster
than these other two machines.

I contacted HP support by e-mail and they told me they do
not recommend running their G85 across a wireless
network. Of course, it has been running flawlessly until
I installed XP, but I didn't take up that point with them
yet.

Anyone out there have any ideas for us? Thanks!
