Please help - slow printing

Jim

I have 2 XP machines networked with a Linksys router.
When I copy files between machines it is over 10MB, but
within the last three weeks printing across the network
travels at about 4 packets per second - a scanned
document may take an hour to print through the network
(fast locally). The only changes have been Microsoft
updates and I loaded Digital Image Suite on one of the
machines...can anyone help? Is there something specific
to spooled data transport that is differn't than other
traffic?

After MS updates I had nothing but trouble with my network HP printer
including "spooler errors".
I removed printer from all machines, uninstalled the HP printer program and
drivers from the "print server" and reinstalled with most recent drivers.
So far so good.

hope this helps

Thank you Yellowpike for your response, it is an HP
printer I'm having a problem with. This is also a home
network, so there is not a print server. If I need to I
will remove and reinstall the drivers, but they are old
and it took me a long time to find the right one that
works with XP. But, your solution may be the only one...
