Slow Printing from Network on W2K

Can anyone explain this?

I have set up my laser printer (Samsung ML-1710) on the USB port of a server
running W2K Server and shared it on the network. Whenever one of the other
hosts prints, it takes an interminably long time. This is not the complexity
or size of the printed document. A test page takes about 5 minutes! The
application on the host that is printing is hung during this process. It is
as though there is very slow, but ultimately successful, communications with
the printer. For other operations, e.g. file transfer, the server is not
slow.

The really puzzling thing is that I previously had the same printer attached
to a different host on the network. That machine ran W2K WS and printing
from across the network took just a second or two.

Any idea what might be causing this?

Many thanks.
