Slow operating after installing Live One Care

I contacted Mircosoft Live OneCare because after I installed Live OneCare the
computer started running slower. After weeks of going back and forth, they
said it was a Windows XP operating system problem. When I first start the
computer is takes about 20 minutes for everything to be functional. I don't
have any programs that open on startup that I know of. It takes 3-4 minutes
to open Yahoo mail and messenger. Now when I launch an internet site the
pain opens up by bits and pieces and has parts of what was open inside where
new information is to go... very interesting, but boring. I have shut down
errors sometimes. dwwin.exe, which I was told is part of the Dr Watson error
reporting tool pops up most of the time, and AcroRd32.exe is also showing up.

One other thing. When this whole mess started about a two months ago it was
because there was an icon that showed up in the task bar. It is a little cpu
with a red question mark that alternates with the standard blue Windows help
icon. Every three minutes or so a balloon pops up and tells me "System
detects virus activities. These may impact performance... Click this baloon
(sic) to get all available spyware". The first time I saw it I clicked on
the balloon and it was an ad for anti-vermin and spyware. I hide the icon
through start/properties/ taskbar/ customize, but it doesn't ever go away.
In past items in this same location is Webroot Spy Sweeper w/ Antivirus (tm)
Anti-verminser 2.1 and BaDoink. I have not installed these knowingly. I
hope someone can help.

Thank you.

I know it's been a while since you wrote that post but here's a suggestion to
ANYONE who has computer slow-down issues:

This is a free program that, of the very many I've tried, is the best! It
will clean your temp files and cookies, analyze your Startup programs (so you
can delete the ones you don't want running all the time; it will clean your
registry and computer; it will remove spyware; it checks your security
settings and more. It's called Advanced Windows Care 2 and here's the
download link:

I assume you have an anti-virus program running to protect your computer.
If not, I've been using Avast for five years and love it and it's free. And,
a really sexy guy speaks to you when the program auto updates!!)

Here's the link:

Hope this helps anyone who's sick of slow 'puters....
