Slow opening My Computer item in Explorer

Guest

Whenever I open My Computer in the Explorer, either in the folder list or in
the main pane, it takes a very long time to show the results. This also
happens when I try to navigate through My Computer in an Open or Save As
dialog box.

This is the only folder that is slow to open. I don't have many items in My
Computer, just My Documents and Shared Documents in addition to the drives.

Any suggestions?

Hi gordo,

Click Start, Run and type Services.msc
In the Services (Local) list, right-click Windows Image Acquisition (WIA), and then click Stop

I've tried all the suggestions listed in this thread and I am still
getting "save as" times in the 25 to 35 second range. Specifics:

1. Open a VPN session to my business environment (there are no delays
without this)
2. Open a file in notepad
3. "save as" on desktop - 25-35 second delay

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Bob
The slow save as time occurs in wordpad, not notepad. Does that
provide any clue?
