The severity of this problem varies, but at its worst it's glacially
slow. For example, I might be viewing the My Computer folder
D:\Docs\SUNDRY\XYZ\ABC\Example and then click to go up one place in
the tree. But it sometimes takes 10-30 seconds to appear. This is
usually on the *first* occasion I start navigation in that folder
after a longish period. If I try again immediately, maybe going down
and up again, it's fast once more.
Despite much research (several times over the last year or so), I've
never found a solution. All the 'standard' house-keeping gets done
regularly, including defragging partitions daily. I also installed
CachemanXP to see if that would help.
Any of the experts have any suggestions as to how I might isolate the
cause and fix this please?
