Slow Logon

B

Bernard Lloyd

I have a laptop with WinXP Pro on a network with a Windows 2000 domain. I
can log into any other system on the network with no problem, but when I
attempt to logon with the laptop- it can take 15-20 minutes for it to
complete.

If I log on as administrator or some other user there is no problem logon on
to the laptop.

Cause and resolution please!

Roaming Profiles
If there is alot of data in the profile it slows down the logon/logoff
process as it has to sync it up.

Check the size of the profile.

Solutions
Don't have so much data in the profile
Exclude directories from the roaming profile

I find the Desktop folder is often a problem
