I have just set up a Windows 2000 domain, and added a PC
to the domain. (a very small network for testing
purposes). The domain server is also a DHCP server.
Logging in to the domain on the domain server is OK, but
logging in to the other PC takes a looong time, while the
system displays "applying personal settings"...
The user is a domain user, belonging to the Domain Admins
group. Logging in to the PC using a local user works OK.

Any hint?

Run netdiag on that machine looking for any failed tests that may be
pertinent and also examine Event Viewer for problems. Make sure that it is
configured to use the domain controller only in it's tcp/ip properties for
preferred dns server. See KB link below for how to enable environmental
debug logging if you want to try that. It may also help trying a to log on
with a different domain account in case there is profile corruption. ---
