Slow Login over Term Svcs.

Win2K server has been accepting TS Client without issue for over a year (only
2 clients connect). Beginning in Sept., login in process through RDP began
taking longer to actually login with user name. We have searched...applied
hotfix under KB324446 and still not resolved. Unable to configure power
protect option due to Dell Raid array. We have all latest updates, firmware
on raid, drivers, etc. Over the lan (100mb) it takes right at 1 minute to
reach the desktop, over the vpn takes much longer. Only clues are the APC
fiasco back in August, finally upgraded to latest version with current java
content. Customer states he thinks the problem began around that time. We
have also registered msiexec.exe per another KB relating to APC and still no
luck. Box is not a DC...just a file server...please help! Thanks in advance!

Patrick, I will answer your question tomorrow. However, I have attempted to
login using several existing user names and I have the one minute delay on
the lan for each account. I have even created a new user and receive the
same results. I will post tomorrow...I appreciate the response, this one
really has me puzzled. I could have slicked and reloaded the os a long time
ago but I want to know why this is happening.

Patrick, I don't think this article applies but I am going to take it with me
and look it over closely. To answer your original question, Administrator
profile is 33239 kb and the rest of the users (8) are between 243-635 kb.
Takes 1 minute from hitting enter from logon screen until you reach the
desktop...for every profile...no deviation from the issue. I did add another
user and have same results. All profiles are local profiles, no roaming and
TS Configuration is the default config for an app server...license server is
down the pipe and we have valid CALS being issued.

Have you tried disabling printer or other local device redirection to see if
any of these makes a difference?

I have disabled all TS config's bringing client printing and other devices to
the session...and have disabled local printers on the remote desktop
side....same result! :(

If you have all of the latest updates, this still happens, and you don't have
a system image from before the problem, I'd suggest a rebuild or opening a
call with Microsoft PSS.
