slow loading of SDI from USB 2.0 CD-ROM

Hello-
I am an XPE novice and have created a .iso file of a .sdi file of my run-time image and burned this to CD. I load the CD into RAM via USB 2.0 CD-ROM. The image size is 300 MB but it takes 30 minutes to load (then works fine). On an IDE drive the same image size takes 6 minutes to load. As far as I know all the USB hardware / ports are hi-speed 2.0 and I have the USB 2.0 components in the image (including USB 2.0 boot - which I thought was for booting from flash anyway). I have verified by copying files from a USB stick while booted in XP Pro that all the hardware is truly running at hi-speed. So why does it take so long to load the SDI file into RAM? (This system will not have a HD in the final form) Thanks,

Pete
