Slow directory on mapped "Network" drive

Hi,

I have two PCs, both running WinXP Pro. On PC1 I have
mapped a drive to a shared folder on PC2. The folder has
some additional 1500 folders in it, with a high number of
files.

When I open up "My Computer" or the Explorer, it usually
takes at least 1 minute to dislay the directory.

Is there anything I can do to decrease that time? It is
extremely annoying.

Thanks in advance!

Sure - remove some of the folders. That's a lot of data for your
computer to load into memory. Perhaps you can archive some of that data
onto cd-r's. If not, be sure you have the view set to "list" and not
icons or thumbnails.
