My home machine is getting slower by the day. Memory use
seems to be the culprit.

Is there an easy way to view and turn off all non-
essential programs/processes that are not needed at each
start-up?

I have 37 running???

Thanks,
Diana

You have a firewall and anti virus app installed?
You might want to download Adaware, update the deffinition file and run it

Youve run windowsupdate and downloaded critical updates?
Having said that, what memory does yr sys have?
Many running apps will show in yr task bar, often right clicking on their
icon will enable you to close them. Some may even have an option in their
'tools' menu to disable auto start on boot.

Hi Diana,

In addition to what DL mentioned, you can kill some processes through

start/control panel/administrative tools/services

Right click on anything there (no guessing at importance!) and set it's
properties on when and if you want something to run.
