slow browsing and typing

I have recently had a problem with my IE6. I was using
Windows 98 and for some reason IE would be really sluggish
and slower than it used to while browsing. Like say if I
visit a website and have to type in something it would
usually show up on the screen about the same speed as I
type, but now I have to basically guess if I typed
something right because it takes so long to appear on the
screen. Browsing is very sluggish too. I thought this
was a hardware problem, however I have tried several other
browsers on my computer and they all seem to run perfectly
like IE used to. Can anyone help?
