Hi,

Suddenly when double clicking any file the computer hangs and after 2
min of delay it opens the file.

but whenever i start the associated program for ex Microsoft Word, and
go to File --> Open, the file opens normally!
it's happening with any file type,
It's only happening with files, brwosing through the folders is normal
and starting any application is normal.

Please advise...

1-Scan your PC against viruses or spyware
2-Use Disk Clean up utility to clean the unused Files
3-Try to exit any applications you don't use when you using your PC

Feed me back what happens after trying those steps

Your explorer registry settings probably contain reference to the
malfunction program.
When you double clicking on the file, explorer will look to the
registry for default action for files of this type.
It loads many dynamic link libraries in this process.
If one of them works wrongly you can see strange results.

If you say it happens for all programs you should look to the leaf for
all files (mask .* in the registry).
Go to the shellex subleaf and delete buggy program reference (or just
uninstall it :) ).

Try temporarily disabling your on-access Virus Scanner, if you have one.
I have McAfee Virus scan 7, and if i leave its on-access scan enabled,
it gets very greedy. So much so that i usually leave it off.
