File association problem

I'm pretty computer savvy but haven't been able to solve this peculiar
problem for a friend. In Control Panel/Folder Options, the file association
for PPS files is set for Microsoft Power Point Viewer. If I have a pps file
in My Documents, I can double-click on it and it opens OK. If a PPS file is
received as an attachment in Outlook Express 6, double clicking produces a
message like "No program associated with this file. Go to Control
Panel/Folder Options and set the file association". If I copy the file to My
Documents and double click it, it opens OK. If I right click on the file in
My Documents, the shortcut menu lists Open With, but if I do the same in
Outlook Express, there's no Open With so I can't try to make it work from
there. I've looked at all the MS Knowledgebase articles on this but can't
find a solution. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Well off the top of my head this may or may not work but try this:

go to a PPS file any one. Now right click and select open with. Select
choose program. You will see a list of programs you can choose from. Pick
the one you want and check "Always use the selected program to open this kind
of file". Hit OK. That will set that program and that file extension as the
default program. Let me know if that helps so I can improve my services.
Best Regards,
Kja
