Outlook Express .pps attachments will not open

My Power Point Viewer works well with all .pps files except those received
as e-mail attachment in Outlook Express. The file association setting in
Folder Options is set properly, however, when I try to open e-mail .pps
attachments I get a warning that the file has no program associated with it.
I must save the .pps attachment into another folder in order to open it.
This should not be necessary. Any suggestions?
