Explorer opens slow

When I open Windows Explorer, it opens with the "Start Menu" directory
highlighted but hangs up there for a couple of seconds. After that happens,
I can switch between directories normally and quickly. Does anyone know how
to eliminate the intial hang-up?

Note that some of the fixes I looked at said to go to START > ALL PrOGRAMS >
WINDOWS EXPLORER and click Properties. Windows Explorer does not appear on
my All Programs listing.

Thanks.

Should be:

Start | All Programs | Accessories | Windows Explorer

Since you are being placed in Start Menu directory, you must be
right-clicking on the Start button and chosing Open.
Try placing a shortcut to Windows Explorer on your Quick Launch bar.

As far as slowness, what type of system is this. Does it have access to
shared network drives?

Start, All Programs, Accessories, Windows Explorer?

Are you complaining of a 2 second delay?

Hope this helps.
