SLOOOW IE6 open

T

teenie

When I'm connected to the internet (via dial-up), my
Internet Explorer takes MINUTES to open (sometimes as
much as 20!), however if I open the browser 1st (& get
the "web page cannot be displayed" message) then connect
to the internet, I typically do not have any delays.
Once in a while when doing it this way the IE will hang
and have to be shut down. Also, once I've waited out the
20 minutes or so, I can close & re-open the browser 100
times and it'll react as fast as I can double-click the
icon.

Any thoughts on this & how to fix it?

Have you looked in Event Viewer for error messages.

Make a note of the precise text of any error message. You can always look at these in Event Viewer. Start, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information regarding Event ID: and Source Description are important.
