slipstreaming xp sp2

R

RJK

I was having a go at
http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sp2_slipstream.asp

and when I clicked Nero 6 "burn" ...up popped a little window telling me
that a pathname exceeded 255 characters, for the Joliet ISO 9660 something
or other - "proceed anyway ?"

....so I did. ("proceeded")

....so have I got a "duff" bootable xp-sp2 boot cd-r ...or a good one? I
can't try it out until I change my motherboard. i.e. I don't want to wreck
my current lovely XP home installation for a few more weeks.

Making a bootable CD using Nero full version for Slipstreaming XP is OK but
if you only have the OEM version, which now usually comes with a new drive,
you can't do it or at least I couldn't figure out how to do it other than
making a bootable CD that boots to DOS. I suggest you use a free utility
called nLite. It is so much simpler and quicker and it automatically makes
the bootable ISO image so all you need Nero, or any other program, for is to
write a CD from the ISO image. The only drawback is you need to have
Microsoft's .net framework installed, but to keep up with new programs you
will, no doubt, have to have it installed anyway. the download URL is
