slipstream xp-sp2 using w2kp

can one use a w2k machine to create the slipstreamed win xp sp2 cd? i
extracted the sp2 files and when i trying to update sp1 with the sp2
extracted files it pops up a w2k error log box "creating error log".

No - slipstreaming must be done on a computer containing the OS you are
slipstreaming. Win2k Pro must be done on a Win2k Pro machine, WinXP Pro
must be done on a WinXP Pro machine, WinXP Home must be done on a WinXP Home
machine, Win2k Server must be done on a Win2k Server, Win2k Advanced Server
must be done on Win2k Advanced Server - get the picture.

Win2K I am not sure about, but you can certainly do an XP Home on an XP
Pro machine. I have done so. And I do not see any reason why you
should not do it on any machine, provided you realise that you need a
folder of files from the original XP CD, another of files extracted from
the *full* SP2 exe file, and then use a slipstream tool to merge the one
into the other. You also need the boot sectors to join in the burn,
which would need to come from an XP CD; doing an initial boot to a 2K
setup would make no sense

i have all xp disk and sp2 disk. i am going to install xp dual boot with
w2kp. i am trying to make the slipstream sp2 disk before i install xp for
the first time. i am following the"elder geek"s method.
