Slightly OT - Activation question

P

Paul

I bought, installed and activated MS Word from the Microsoft Works Suite
2003 about 6 months ago. If I buy a new computer, can i install it and
activate it on that computer too? Activation was done over the phone.
Thanks.

The keyword here is "too." Since this was evidently a retail version of
Works Suite (rather than OEM), the question is whether that version of Word
is licensed (as retail Office suites are) for one desktop and one laptop
(and you'll have to check the EULA to find that out). If so, you might
stretch this (though illegally) to apply to two desktops or two laptops. If
not, then the question is whether you're actually planning to have it
installed on two computers or to transfer it from the old computer to the
new one. If the latter, then there should be no problem in any case if it's
a retail version. You'll need to use phone activation again and explain that
you have uninstalled it from the old computer and are installing it on a new
one.
