Slightly different SVChost problem

M

Ok I've been reading up and I've seen a lot of problems
with SVCHost lately. Most of these problems seem to be
attributed to blaster. Well I'm not sure if my issue is
that or not. But my svchost error message is slightly
different. I get this:

**************************************************
svchost.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0xe04e3a68" referenced memory
at "0xe04e3a68". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
**************************************************

After this happens I suppose svchost stops working or
stops pwrking proerly cause the user will complain that he
is unable to work inside IE. Is this a blaster issue? Is
some other conflict causing my problem? Youyr advice is
greatly appreciated.

Doesn't sound like blaster to me... could be a new strain... Have you
checked the Knowledge Base?
Wouldn't hurt to check for blaster:

www.symantec.com for search and removal tool

search for dcombobulator in google and download the tool to disable DCOM too
this stops blaster from probiing your PC remotely, th MS patch doesn't
always work so great in my opinion and experience

Thanks for the advice. I will try those tools. We
haven't been hit since I went and updated everyone's
systems with the latest service packs and security
patches. hopefully that solved the problem, but I'll let
you know if it doesn't.
