slide pane

I was creating a Powerpoint and di dsomething that changed the center slide
pane to all gray background, not the design template I started with. The
slide task pane on the left still shows the color design template and it
prints with the design template. How do I get rid of the gray slide pane
background and get the design template look back?

Some questions

What is on the "grey slide"? (picture , text ....?)
Can the grey box be selected and cut?
What version of ppt?

If its a full slide picture try going to shadow style in the draw menu and
select "no shadow"

Another option is go to format >background and see if a grey fill has been
introduced
If so change to "automatic" in the drop down and if "omit fills from master"
is ticked untick it

Try "View", "Color/Grayscale" and see if the "Color" option is selected. If
this is the problem, there should be a toolbar button telling you to close
that view.

Hi Geopatton,

It is possible that you have added an object to the slide, but way far off
on the side. Since PowerPoint tries to display the center of the slide and
objects, you may be seeing the grey background used in the editor pane
BETWEEN the slide and this outlying object.

To find out if this is the case, set the zoom scale to 10%. (View => Zoom
=> adjust to 10%) Then click on the gray area, and press the tab key to
change the selection. Watch the scroll bars for when they change position.
You can select all of the objects on the actual slide and paste them onto a
new one, or delete this object.

Thank you for the responses. Version of PowerPoint was Office 2003.

I did try the color background suggestion and it did not work prior to
making this posting. As for what was on the pane, the text appeared in the
proper location, just all gray background, no shadowing effect.

The problem remained if I shut down my PowerPoint software and brought back
up the presentation. The gray effect occurred also on previously created
presentations when I called them up.

I then shut down and restarted the computer and the problem went away. The
design template and all colors came back in the slide center pane. I do not
have a clue as to what I did to cause the problem, nor why the reboot "fixed"
it.

Sometimes it is merely a video card goof up. Might be worthwhile trying to
download the latest video driver for your card. Glad you got it fixed!
