skipping sounds when playing music...

i'm not sure what i did, but whenever i try playing music/videos (whether it
be from the internet, windows media player...) the sound tends to skip like
every 4-6 seconds from beginning til end. it was fine this morning. i
remember installing a printer and installing some adobe acrobat 7
program...if anybody have any idea what is happening...your help is much
appreciated.

Reinstall or update your sound driver also make sure your sound card isn't
thermal cycling.
