No sound from speakers

I deleted a program called MSN music media bar from downloaded program files
then when a played a music clip no sound was heard. i tried to play the music
from the computer but the error came up form Windows media player:
" Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with
your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your
computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be
functioning properly."

I don't know what to do or where to get the the program from so that i can
install
